Social media is all about trust. You earn that trust simply by helping and serving your community in a way that is beneficial to them in whatever goals or interests they share with your brand. When you are lucky enough to build and audience of people who actively tune into what you are looking to convey, you need to make sure that the message is one that will resonate or help them get closer to the success or solutions they are looking for.

I have a few rules of thumb I try to follow when posting content that I wanted to share with you all today. Feel free to add any in the comments below!

Does this piece of content reflect the skill level where I am personally or where my audience skill set is at presently?    Sometimes you can be so personally excited about a project, product, service etc. that you can spread the word to your audience because you think, this can help everybody!  Remember where your audience is in their journey. Are they expert enough for this tactic or strategy? Are you on step 8 when they are still on step 3?

Am I describing it in such a way that it can be easily grabs  attention?  Remember Bueller, Bueller, Bueller? If you are putting content out there, make it pop with some visuals, strong headlines and hashtags so that it doesn’t get lost.

Is it resonating or flopping?  Are people clicking on your links? Are they commenting? Liking, sharing, etc? No?? Maybe it is time to consider a different approach. Look at other successful social media profiles of brand influencers that are similar to what you offer and see what seems to get the most response for them.

Are you engaging? It’s tempting to just vomit information at people? Successful social brands are both a resource, as well as rapport building ninjas. Interacting with followers and strategic partners can really help to build and amplify trust in your brand. Try it and let us know what happens!
